Well, well. It would appear that the TPoP gang has started playing cat-and-mouse with their upcoming L.A. screening. I'm so surprised.
When they originally posted notice of this screening, the included this information:
Los Angeles, CA
02.26.09, Thursday
7 pm
University of Southern California
Women's Student Assembly
kristen.priddy@gmail.com
626.487.4171
If you go to their site now, they're just a bit less informative. All they have to say about it is:
Los Angeles, CA
02.26.09, Thursday
7 pm
University of Southern California
Not too helpful if you're not in the circle of invited guests. I wonder why they made this change. Could it be they hope to limit outside participation? Nah. Based on the way they danced us around last time, then blamed U.S.C. for it, I'm sure they wouldn't do anything to try and control the turnout on this visit.
Nevertheless, if they're going to show this thing on the U.S.C campus, we'll find out where and post the information here, as well as making sure it reaches those in the porn industry defamed by this piece of trash in plenty of time to make sure we're represented. As of now, at least three of the performers slammed by this picture plan to attend.
We'll find out if the previously posted contact information is still good and let you know.
Christ they are pathetic, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteI kind of pity them, if they're THIS ashamed of a project that must have taken at least some work.
ReplyDeleteI love how they're doing half our work for us. By playing three-card monte with this screening location, they're telling us that they know their claims aren't nearly as valid as they'd like to portray them as.
ReplyDeleteTrinity,
ReplyDeleteThey're not ashamed. In fact, if you go to their site, you'll find them consistently smug and self-congratulatory. They post every favorable comment and review, along with their own boasting about the worthiness of their endeavor. Never is a critical word allowed to appear there.
In my direct encounters with them, they have refused point-blank to admit to a single fault with any of the methods used in creating their little masterpiece or acknowledge any harm it might do to those nonconsensually exploited by it. In fact, they're quite proud of themselves and their work.
What they reveal with all their trickery after the fact is the unprincipled state of mind in which the whole project was incubated. In the producers' pursuit of their greater goal, they are nothing if not ruthless and underhanded, as they have proven again and again by lying to their sources and to their viewers and manipulating words and images for maxiumum propgagandistic effect, and quite unabashedly so as only those who believe themselves incapable of moral error can.
Pity is not the emotion they inspire in me, and when they come to where my friends and I make our livings and live our lives to defame us on our home ground, they cannot expected to be received as pitiable, but rather as utterly and irredeemably despicable.
I have said these things in print and to their faces and I look forward to doing so again very soon. If they flee from such a challenge, we can add cowardice to the long list of their sins.
Believe it or not, back in the day, it was feminists who had the venue changed ON US whenever we tried to show up at some screening. I recall similar tactics when SF-WAVAW protested the anti-woman (and anti-trans) mainstream horror movie DRESSED TO KILL. Theater-owners would change the times around.
ReplyDeleteAnd now, the same evasion tactics being used against yall? That is so fucked up, makes me ashamed.
:(
I've seen what these folk are like first hand when stuck in a room with someone who does not agree and knows their shit...and while I know my shit, Ernest, so on, know their shit even better. In MN Jensen looked as if he would rather be riddled with pushpins for three days than have to discuss this film with me in the room...because I had my A game with me, I do porn, and I was not going to let him get away with all the weepy gut shot tactics.
ReplyDeleteThese folk do not like opposition, even when it comes from a relative nobody like me. Getting it from the people they are EXPLOITING in their movie? No question it scares the shit out of them.
If they cannot defend their sloppy slanted work from just little old me? How can they defend it when confronted with the very people who are in their stupid docudrama?
I think they are smug on thier own turf and in rooms where there is no opposition because anywhere else? They are going to get gutted alive. And they know it.
Right on, Daisy. It's just cowardice, even if they're right (and I don't think they are.)
